Nello honors Primitivo's gregarious ways and lets it become the delightfully brash and juicy thing Primitivo drives itself to be.

Deep garnet. Medium dry, medium-high acidity, body and tannins.Intense bright and complex fruit, blueberry, red currant, fruity finish.

PAIRS with intense flavors, ethnic spices, caramelized onion, fire-roasted peppers & veggies, baked beans, BBQ’d meats, robust pastas, pizza.

When Crljenak Kaštelanski grapes arrived in Italy from Croatia, an 18th century monk mercifully gave it a name more melodious to the Italian's ear. Primitivo means "early one” and refers to its early-ripening nature. (Primitivo can’t hold itself back from a rush to the crush!) When a strain of it came to California, someone named it Zinfandel. Nello grows the older Italian version.
