Sagrantino is rarely grown outside Umbria, the region in Italy that is Nello’s ancestral home. Its grapes carry a high tannic structure similar to pure cocoa, and its wine has the highest antioxidant content of any wine.

Grafted into Nello’s vineyard in 2009, this strain of Sagrantino comes directly from the Umbrian vineyards that surround Nello’s home village, Todi. It now thrives at Rancho Olivo Vineyards, nurtured and proudly cared for by Nello and his vinyeard team.

Intense black cherry, strawberry, blueberry, rose, black pepper, oak, nutmeg, menthol.

PAIR with rich, fatty dishes, earthy sausages, mushrooms, wild game, braised meats, aged cheeses.

Ruby red, dry, full body, high tannins. It will age well over decades but is enjoyable now—especially with food—after a long decant.
